Preparation

  1. Ensure you are in a state of grace by confessing your sins, particularly any mortal sins, to a priest.
  2. Focus on the power of the Lord, not on the devil, to avoid being overcome by fear.
  3. Seek strength from the Holy Spirit. Once you sense the presence of God, you may begin the prayer.
